Apologetics and Evengelization

Anonymous:  I'm Catholic. I'm so stressed out by my friends and how no one agrees with my political views (I'm very conservative) and how sinful our world is. Sometimes it feels like we're falling apart as a society. Especially with the health care mandate. Any insight?

As a pretty conservative person myself, I understand where you are coming from. With fairly liberal people (who are not Catholic), you have to argue the mandate in a secular view rather than a religious one. You can also argue the promiscuity of our sexual behavior in a secular way and tie what the Catholic church teaches into your arguments without the teachings actually being your argument. If you are arguing with another Catholic as to why the mandate is wrong, you can use Catholic teachings as your arguments, but also use secular arguments. For example, if arguing with a Catholic about the mandate, you can easily refute this by saying, “regardless of what Catholic women are doing, the teachings of the faith clearly state that using contraception is immoral. Catholic teaching also states that it is immoral to put someone in the near occasion of sin regardless of the other person’s faith. Therefore, mandating that Catholic-affiliated institutions mandated to provide contraception is wrong. By extension, it prevents these organizations from practicing their faith, which is prohibited by the Constitution.” I have a full conversation here that talks about our society demoralizing itself through contraception with non-Catholics. Tell me if it gave any insight to you. I hope this helps! God Bless!
